Jack MacKenzie is reportedly a target for English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
The Aberdeen left back is one of five first team players out of contract at Pittodrie at the end of the season and is now able to speak to other clubs. The 24-year-old was previously linked with Wednesday, Preston and Stoke City earlier this season and Sky Sports now report the Owls are back in for the defender.
Dons boss Jimmy Thelin is set to lose several key men on free transfers next summer, with Duk, Jamie McGrath, Angus MacDonald and back-up goalkeeper Ross Doohan also out of contract at the end of the season. However, the Swede has been highly active in the January window and has completed four signings so far. Winger Jeppe Okkels and centre back Alfie Dorrington have arrived on loan deals from Preston and Tottenham respectively while Latvian centre half Kristers Tobers and Danish full back Alexander Jensen have been snapped up on permanent transfers from Grasshoppers and Swedish outfit IF Brommapojkarna.
Aberdeen are now hoping to bolster their attacking options but have also been linked with a move for ex Rangers player Kal Naismith. Former Ibrox midfielder Andy Halliday teased that a former teammate of his was in talks with the Reds during a live radio show on Clyde Superscoreboard on Monday night, and Not The Old Firm claim that the mystery man is Bristol City’s Naismith.
The 32-year-old, who can play in a number of different positions has been restricted to just six league appearances for the Robins this season but the report states that the Dons are keen to bring him to the Granite City on loan for the remainder of the season. However, Record Sport understands the one-time Scotland youth international is currently not on their radar.
Naismith – who made 24 appearances for Rangers in the 2012/13 campaign – is out of contract in the summer. He has spent the last 12 years down south with the likes of Accrington Stanley, Portsmouth, Hartlepool, Wigan and Luton before joining Bristol City in 2022.
