Airdrie captain Adam Frizzell hopes getting key players back can send his side on a run of results, starting at Livingston tonight.
The Diamonds go into battle in West Lothian rock bottom of the Championship, with just one league win all season, while the Lions are on a run of three straight defeats.
Midfielder Frizzell says Airdrie will need to be on top form to take three points, but has belief that they can.
Tonight’s clash was moved from Saturday after freezing temperatures were forecast over the weekend, which proved accurate, with several postponements.
Frizzell says it was the right decision, and wants his side to be at it.
He said: “Livingston are one of the better teams in the league, who are going for the league. We’ve played them twice, I don’t think we’ve been out of either game.
“Up there we probably could have nicked it, they ended up nicking it in the last minute, and they won comfortably at our place, but I thought in the first half we were very much in the ascendency.
“We’re confident going into it, as much as we know we need to be bang on it to get anything from the game.
“We definitely think we can go there and cause them problems.”
Frizzell added: “I think it was to be minus-seven on Friday night, and for everyone travelling to the game on the Saturday it probably made sense.
“I know it’s usually worse in Livingston, so all in all it wast he right decision.
“It messes up your schedule and stuff, but it gives us a chance to get a couple of boys back into the team, who are on their road back, and it gives them a chance to build their fitness more.”
Players like Rhys McCabe and Mason Hancock coming back will make Airdrie stronger, and Frizzell hopes more follow soon.
He said: “It’s probably a positive thing for us, because we’re starting to look a bit stronger now and starting to get everyone back who has been out long-term.
“We need it, because we need a good run, and it has to start sooner rather than later.
“I think we’re getting people back at the right time. It definitely hindered us, having five or six strong starters out for a long period of time, and we’ve found ourselves in a precarious position now.
“But we’ve got four months or so to sort it, there’s plenty of football to be played, and we need to find a run from somewhere.
“The chances of that are only going to be enhanced with boys getting back, and it needs to start now.”
