Are you expecting a wee one and still pondering over names, or perhaps just daydreaming about future family additions?
A woman who has devoted her life to compiling the “ultimate cool girl” baby names might just have the answers you’re looking for. Mum Tayln Virden has taken to TikTok to assist potential parents with names she personally “would and wouldn’t use”.
At the start of her video, she remarked: “That’s the beauty of baby naming. Not everyone is going to love the name of your child – but what is important is you do.”
Tayln then delved into her list, sharing the thoughts behind each name selection.
Vivi
“This is a name I would personally use”, Tayln said. “But Vivi who? How about Vivi Kate? This is a cool girl, I think it’s funky, I think it’s fun.”
Clarke
This name is often associated with boys, but Clarke is something Tayln “can’t resist for a little girl”. “Spelt this way [ending in ‘e’] I’m obsessed,” she gushed. “I love a little man name, but as a girl, Clarke is it.”
Frankie
A name Tayln has come across frequently, Frankie is one she describes as “so sweet”, adding that perhaps “Frankie Lou” is even better.
Jersey
Again, Tayln says this is “so sweet” as well as being “funky and fun” like Vivi. “It’s also new, it’s trendy,” she praised. “But I don’t see it often.”
Madden
“I wasn’t about this name for a long time and it’s not something I would use for a little boy,” Tayln shared. “For a girl though it works – but I wouldn’t want her to be nicknamed Maddie or anything like that.”
She also suggested Madden Blake as a double-barrelled name, adding: “When she’s 16 everyone will say, ‘that girl is cool’.”
Ellington
Shortened to El, or doubled up as Ellington Sade, Tayln praised the versatility of this suggestion. “She’s pretty, she’s cool and her favourite color is pink.”
Blake
“I’ve said it once and I’ll say it forever,” Tayln declared about the name, Blake. She proposed Karis Blake or Blake Kate as double-barrel alternatives, describing them as suitable for someone “cute or a tomboy”.
Lawson
With a potential nickname of Lolli, Tayln described Lawson as a name that’s “out there” but not one she would ever use herself despite it being on her list for years.
Billie
“My mom loves the name, Billie – it was her grandad’s name and it’s cute,” Tayln revealed. “Billie Kate works well, and I’m a big fan of Billie James – I think that’s sweet as it’s two classics and when you read the name you’ll probably think it’s for a little boy. But I think that makes it even cuter.”
Blythe
Tenth on Tayln’s list is Blythe – a name she says is “very dear” to her. “I think it’s so sweet – I’ve shared my love for Blythe,” she added.
“I love it, and Blythe is freaking cool too but I still don’t have a middle name to go with it.”
