At least one person was injured by the metal found inside their taquitos, but it’s unknown how many were contaminated.

WASHINGTON — Bestway Sandwiches Inc. is recalling thousands of pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquitos that may contain metal pieces after receiving consumer complaints, including one report of a dental injury.

The California-based company announced the recall of approximately 24,870 pounds of Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. The affected products were produced on the dates of July 3 and Sept. 25, 2024, and were sold in 31 states.

The recall covers 20-ounce carton packages with “Best By” dates of July 3, 2025, and September 25, 2025. The products, bearing establishment number “EST. P-40327,” were distributed to ALDI grocery stores nationwide.

The company initiated the recall after a consumer reported finding metal in the product. A separate report to the FSIS detailed a dental injury related to the taquitos. No other injuries or illnesses have been reported.

FSIS officials expressed concern that consumers may still have the recalled products in their freezers. Customers are urged to either dispose of the taquitos or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Bestway Foods Co.’s Quality Assurance Department at (818) 361-1800, ext. 110.
