As the full line-up for Celebrity Bear Hunt is unveiled, host Holly Willoughby remarked: “I don’t think they knew what they were signing up for.”
The programme has released its first look images and a trailer that sees celebrities gasping for air while adrift at sea, some being whisked away by Bear himself, and one challenge that Spice Girl Mel B describes as “terrifying”.
The show appears to be a hybrid of I’m A Celebrity with a twist of Channel 4’s The Island with Bear Grylls.
Holly further commented: “The ultimate survival challenge, twelve celebrities are in the Costa Rican jungle going head-to-head with the legendary Bear Grylls.”
The celebrity cast includes former sports stars Danny Cipriani and Boris Becker, alongside Spice Girl Mel B and presenter Steph McGovern, reports the Mirror.
Boris Becker shared: “I survived prison. I wanna compare that to the wild. It’s about overcoming and not falling down.”
Strictly’s head judge Shirley Ballas will also be seen attempting to navigate through the Costa Rican wilderness on camera, while Lottie Moss, Kate Moss’s half-sister, swaps the catwalk for keeping a sharp eye out for wildcats.
Preview images capture Mel B trekking through a river and Boris Becker sporting a headband ready for survival. While all celebrities are kitted out in combat trousers and matching T-shirts, one star still manages to look as though she’s on a luxury holiday.
Holly Willoughby appears more laid-back than her co-stars in a floral dress as she presents the new high-octane competition series that sees celebrities thrust into the Central American jungle, where they become prey for the renowned survivalist, Bear Grylls.
Netflix, behind the production, says that Bear is convinced everyone harbours an inner action hero, even pampered celebs. Now viewers can witness how the stars fare under Bear’s intensive training.
The adventurer commented: “I have done many wild things in my life but I have never hunted celebrities. The celebrities won’t come out of this the same.”
Participants who don’t make the grade will be subjected to the feared Bear Hunt, a harrowing twist on tag where if Bear catches them, they’re struck off the show.
