A popular snack food is being recalled by Farmfoods due to a “possible health risk”. A packaging error has led to the food, a staple of midweek kids’ dinners and party spreads, being pulled off shelves across the country.

Some of the supermarket’s cocktail sausage rolls have been recalled due to the pack containing cheese and onion rolls, which is not mentioned in the ingredient list. This means they pose a “possible health risk” for anyone with a dairy allergy or intolerance.

Bristol Live reports that the specific product in question is the Farmfoods 50 Cocktail Sausage Rolls, with a pack size of 700g. A post to the Food Standard Agency explains that the batch code is L4295 and the best before date is the end of October 2025.

If you do happen to have an allergy or intolerance to milk, then it is advised to return the product to the store it was bought from for a full refund. Point of sale notices have been issued to stores selling the affected product to explain why they are being recalled and what to do.

For further information, shoppers can contact David Wood Baking Ltd on 07585 400611 or [email protected]. It comes just after TK Maxx and Homesense also issued a similar recall for its Sultans Turkish Delight. The firm’s owners, TJX Europe, advised that various packs contain small traces of milk that was not declared on the list of ingredients.

The food recall affects 250g and 225g boxes sizes that were sold in stores between November and December 2024. Shoppers who bought the product will need to check for a best before date of September 25, 2026.

About allergy alerts

The FSA clarified the process by stating: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).

Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
