Scottish Water is more than half-way towards completing a £2 million project to upgrade the local sewer network in a North Lanarkshire village.
The publicly owned utility is supporting development and reducing the risk of future sewer flooding in Glenmavis through its commercial subsidiary Scottish Water Horizons.
A new storage pipe has been installed in the grass verge between Dunvegan and Windsor Drive to contain excess storm water during heavy rain, and a new sewer is being laid along Glenmavis Road and Coatbridge Road.
Two road closures will now be required for reinstatement work and to install two new manholes along the route of the new sewer.
Windsor Drive at the junction of B803 Raebog Road will be closed from February 3-7, and a full road closure will be in place on Glenmavis Road at the junction with Coatbridge Road from February 10-21.
John Kerr, Scottish Water’s project manager, said: “The diversion for the Glenmavis Road closure will be significant so please plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time for journeys.
“We will maintain pedestrian access to local businesses however some parking restrictions will also be in place.
“We will do all that we can to minimise any disruption and we would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding.”
Work to install the new storage pipe and approximately 500metres of new sewer began in July last year and is expected to take nine months to complete.
