KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV/Gray News) – A family is grieving after losing two sisters who died when their SUV plunged off an icy Missouri highway and into the water below.
Kansas City police said 24-year-old Breanna Bullington lost control of her SUV near Interstate 435 and 103rd Street around 3 a.m. Friday morning.
Her sister, 21-year-old Alexis Bullington, was in the back seat of the car and also died in the crash, according to investigators.
A third person in the car suffered critical injuries according to police.
Investigators believe the SUV traveled up and over a snowbank on the side of I-435. The SUV then went off the bridge and fell about 100 feet before it landed in the Blue River.
A service to remember Brenna and Alexis Bullington will be held later this week. A joint visitation will be held Jan. 17 at Longview Funeral Home and Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. and the funeral will follow at 1 p.m.
Family members of the sisters said the women will be buried beside their mother and grandmother.
