HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has increased its reward for information about the murder of a Houston area mother. The cold case goes back 44 years.
On January 6, 1981, 22 year-old Karen Lynn Douglas was found stabbed to death in her northeast Harris county home.
At the time, Douglas was at home taking care of her 3 month-old daughter while her husband was at work. In the months surrounding her death, there were a number of home invasions in the area, where multiple women reportedly were attacked by a person armed with a knife.
It’s believed these crimes were committed by a young, slender white male.
The reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Douglas’ death is now $6,000. If you have any information, call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS.
