Visiting restrictions at Dumfries and Galloway’s main hospital have been lifted.
A rise in flu and other respiratory illnesses saw all but essential visits banned at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary during the festive period.
However, with the situation now improving, visiting rules have returned to normal – although anyone with signs of a respiratory illness is asked to stay away.
A post on the NHS Dumfries and Galloway Facebook page stated: “We’re pleased to announce that visiting restrictions at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary have now been lifted. This decision comes as respiratory illness levels in the community have improved.
“This means there are no restrictions on the patients who can be visited, visitors do not need to call the ward in advance of visiting and we are not asking people to wear face coverings while on wards.
“However, it is still very important anyone who is experiencing any signs of symptoms of respiratory illness does not visit patients in hospital.
“The situation is being monitored closely, and restrictions may need to be reintroduced if deemed necessary to ensure the safety of patients, staff, visitors and services.
“Thank you for your continued understanding and support.”
