A Border Collie is a highly intelligent and energetic breed of working dog that originated in the British Isles, particularly along the border between England and Scotland.

Traditionally used as a sheepdog, Border Collies are renowned for their agility, endurance, and incredible herding instincts, making them one of the most efficient herding breeds in the world.

Border Collies are extremely energetic and excel in activities like agility, obedience, flyball, dock diving, or frisbee. They require significant daily exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behaviours.

So if you are bringing one into your home, prepare to put a lot of training and energy in! That’s exactly what a TikToker called Daze Livingstone.

The artist posted a video about all the chores she gets her pooch to do. This can provide the vital stimulation they need – and her furry friend gets plenty of treats in return!

“You may or may not know that Border Collies need to work,” Daze began in a video. “But I don’t have any sheep so these are some of the household chores I make my Border Collie do.”

In the clip, Daze instructs her pet to take a piece of trash to the garbage can, which the dog obediently does. “Good boy,” Daze praises as her dog then follows instructions to “put the shoes away” in the laundry room that had been left out. The helpful hound even assists Daze with the laundry, taking each item of clothing she hands him and placing them in the drum.

One TikTok user asked: “Please may I confirm that this good boy is getting financial compensation for his chores?” To this, Daze replied: “Yes! He demands payment in dog treats.”

Another user shared their experience with a Border Collie, writing: “I once stopped in a B&B and the Collie kept bringing me leaflets for all the local attractions! What a genius.” A third user reminisced: “I used to give my Collie jobs – she loved it and sometimes she would predict and just do the jobs.”

Meanwhile a fourth person chimed in with a comparison to their own home life: “These are almost an exact match for the tasks my toddler does!” They continued: “She also helps unload the dishwasher, but I don’t think that would be appropriate for a dog.” Daze responded with a touch of humour: “Haha mine only wants to help clean the plates before they go in the dishwasher.”
