PREVIOUS EARTHQUAKES

It was felt as far north as Rhode Island and New York City. While it didn’t cause any deaths or major injuries, it did cause $80 million in damage to homes, schools and public buildings in Louisa.

More recently, in April last year, a 2.1 magnitude earthquake struck about 3 miles north of Glen Allen and was felt as far away as Chester.

Last summer, a 2.3 magnitude earthquake hit Powhatan and was felt in parts of Richmond.

In 2022, a small earthquake was reported just north of Glen Allen in April and just west of the area in October.
