Celtic dropped points for the second time in 2025 – and we’re only two weeks in. How is the Hotline taking it, I hear you ask? That’s a long answer…

David Bryce, Troon, said: “Celtic were outfought and outworked against Dundee who were the better side. The Celtic defence particularly Schmeichel and Trusty were an absolute joke and McGregor continues to play every game even though he’s contributing absolutely zero for weeks. As for Adam Idah! He is easily one of the worst strikers I’ve seen in a Celtic jersey. A complete waste of money. Hopeless!”

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: “A disappointing performance from Celtic in a game they should’ve had won in the first half but Dundee certainly deserved their point in the end. For the amount of possession, we’re not creating enough chances and the players are maybe thinking the league is over and just going through the motions which is a bad attitude to have. One thing is for sure, they need to start defending better before next week’s game against Young Boys.”

John Caw wrote in to say: “Well done Dundee. I emailed last week saying Rodgers must be a masochist. Tonight he showed he is. How any manager can play Idah is absurd. He’s useless, scared, should’ve scored but backed out. Not for me.”

It wasn’t all negativity though. Looking on the bright side, Frank Jackson wrote in: “What a brilliant game of football. Dundee deserve all the credit for having a proper go. Rodgers a class act in his after match interview. Brilliant advert for Scottish football.” And William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said:We were lucky to get draw, no question. Dundee were the better side and could have won it. But on a positive note, what excellent game it was. Really end to end stuff. It certainly made very good viewing.”

There wasn’t much debating to be done about Mohamed Sylla’s costly handball against Celtic. But Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: “Once again Celtic get bailed out by their usual injury time penalty. Last year all we seemed to read about in the Hotline is penalty Rangers. Pleases someone do the math this year and give us the facts penalties for and against each club in the league? VAR is meant to help get things right but just look at the Hibs penalty awarded against Rangers?

“When Celtic are behind they get their usual injury time until they score and when clear goal scoring opportunity penalties are conceded, such as Alistair Johnston against Ross County and Rangers last season (turning his back but saving with an out stretched arm on the line), the sending off rule doesn’t apply to them, and never a fast track tribunal to rectify things. Different rule book by the usual suspect officials. How are the SFA going to explain these facts?”

Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “Obviously another dead rubber match for Celtic at Dundee. Just ignore the noise and place it in the same in-tray as the Rangers and Borrusia Dortmund games. Or is it that Celtic are the best of a bad bunch..?”

And there was the usual call-out for regular caller Gordon Ashley as Donald Dundas, Uddingston, said: “Nice of Mr Ashley to mention a possible £140million in the bank which is very nice. But when you get destroyed by a very average Rangers side that you’re obsessed with and then the mighty Dundee put 3 past you, reality bites in that all the money in the world doesn’t make you a top side. Bossing it in Scotland is only for the bragging rights.”

Shifting gears, Dundee defender Aaron Donnelly has been taking some stick for his refusal to celebrate against the team he supports. And Neil Renton, Leith, said: “Aaron Donnelly should be ashamed for not celebrating a goal for Dundee against Celtic who he supports. He should be fined a week’s wages and give him something that he really shouldn’t be celebrating.”
