SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department has arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a child.
That suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Cesar Ulises Renderos. SAPD officials said Wednesday afternoon there was a “relationship of sexual nature” between Renderos and the girl that was going on for several months, but didn’t elaborate on how they met or were communicating.
The child’s age is also unknown. SAPD said the girl’s parents reported Renderos to law enforcement.
Authorities added Renderos is a member of a nonprofit that mentors youth, but didn’t identify the organization. SAPD said leaders with that group are cooperating with investigators, adding it didn’t seem that Renderos and the victim met through the nonprofit.
More federal charges are likely to be filed, but as of now Renderos is only facing a charge of sexual assault of a child.
The suspect claimed he did nothing wrong as San Antonio police walked him to a patrol car in handcuffs.
