A former New Jersey school custodian is facing up to eight years in prison after admitting to tainting cafeteria food and utensils with urine, feces and bleach to make children sick.
Giovanni A. Impellizzeri, 27, of Vineland, was working at the Elizabeth F. Moore School in Upper Deerfield in 2023 when he recorded videos of himself urinating in mixing bowls, rubbing his genitals on bread and putting bleach and feces on food, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.
“He also subjected various cooking utensils and other inanimate objects from the school to his private parts,” prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae wrote in a press release Tuesday.
An investigation into Impellizzeri began after an anonymous tipster reported the disturbing videos, which the custodian had shared to an online chat group. Though officials determined there were no illnesses reported because of his actions, he was charged with several counts of aggravated assault, tampering with food products, attempted endangerment and official misconduct.
Following his arrest, he was additionally charged in a separate case when investigators discovered he was also in possession of child sex abuse materials.
In court on Monday, Impellizzeri admitted to his actions and desire to harm children. The two cases were combined in a plea agreement, resulting in guilty pleas for second-degree official misconduct and third-degree possession of child pornography.
His sentencing was scheduled for March 28.
