Residents in parts of Stirling have experienced disruption to their water supply this morning as engineers work to repair a burst pipe near a section of the M9 motorway at Cambusbarron.

Scottish Water issued an update on the outage, which occurred shortly after 10am on Wednesday.

Those living within the FK7 ad FK8 postcode areas could be impacted. FK7 includes Stirling (south and east), Bannockburn, Cambusbarron, Cowie, Fallin, Plean, South Alloa and St. Ninians. FK8 takes in Stirling city centre and west), Aberfoyle, Arnprior, Buchlyvie, Gargunnock, Gartmore, Inversnaid, Kippen, Port of Menteith, Ruskie and Thornhill.

In addition, the burst led to water flooding a section on the M9, meaning restrictions were put in place for a time.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “Our teams are continuing to assess the repair on-site, and valve operations have now been carried out to isolate the burst and restore water supplies for customers as soon as possible.

“The M9 roadway is now operating as normal after restrictions had been in place earlier this morning due to flooding. However, please be aware that we are now making arrangements for traffic management that will be required on the M9 to ensure the safety of the public and our teams whilst we carry out the repair.

“Please be aware that you may experience no water supply or low/intermittent water pressure. You may also experience discoloured water.

“If you experience brown water, we advise to allow your cold-water kitchen tap to run at a reduced pressure until this runs clear. Do not run any other taps or use any water appliances whilst doing so and follow the same process with any other taps affected once the water is clear from your cold-water kitchen tap.

“If you experience white water, this is air trapped in the supply and will clear within 24 to 48 hours.

“We apologise to all affected customers for any inconvenience or disruption this morning, and thank them for their patience and understanding.”
