A schoolboy was hit by a car and injured in Dumfries as he made his way home.

The teenager was using the Brooms Road pedestrian crossing when he was hit by a car on Friday afternoon.

The 15-year-old suffered minor injuries in the accident, which happened at around 3.20pm on the crossing near Glebe Street.

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident or who has dashcam footage to come forward.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The vehicle is described as a red Renault Clio, the driver of the vehicle is described as female aged 50s-60s.

“The male suffered minor injuries.

“Check your dashcam, if you were driving in the surrounding streets, you may have captured the incident/vehicle.

“If you witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage contact 101, incident 16055/25.”
