Scotland have announced their squad for the 2025 Six Nations as they look to win the tournament for the very first time.
Gregor Townsend‘s men missed out on the famous trophy last year following a 17-13 defeat to Ireland on the final matchday. The Scots finished fourth in the end thanks to other results, but they did win the Calcutta Cup with victory over England. A highlight of Townsend’s squad picks is Saracens’ New Zealand-born stand-off Fergus Burke.
The 25-year-old joined the English club last summer to fill the void left by former England captain Owen Farrell’s move to France. Burke is eligible for Scotland through a grandfather from Glasgow. Gregor Townsend has also called up uncapped Glasgow number eight Jack Mann ahead of his eighth championship as Scotland boss. Bordeaux lock Jonny Gray surprisingly returns to the squad after declining a call-up for the autumn Tests. Glasgow Warriors centre Sione Tuipulotu will be captain again while Finn Russell and Rory Darge will star as vice-captains.
After facing Italy at Murrayfield on February 1, Scotland then host Ireland on Sunday, February 9, before heading to Twickenham on Saturday, February 22 to contest the Calcutta Cup. They then have a home match against Wales on Saturday March 8, before finishing up with a trip to Paris to face France on Saturday March 15.
