Zara Tindall has revealed that her husband Mike has a peculiar passion he ‘never misses’ the opportunity to indulge in whenever they travel.
The couple recently jetted off to Australia’s Gold Coast, shortly after spending Christmas with the Royal Family.
They are currently attending the Magic Millions equestrian and auction event Down Under.
Zara, 43, an Olympian, and Mike, 46, a former England international rugby player, consider the Gold Coast as their “home away from home”.
Interestingly, the pair first met in Australia 22 years ago. While Zara has been participating in – and winning – a horse race along the beach, Mike has been engaging in a different kind of contest.
Zara told HELLO! that Mike participated in the Magic Millions Gold karaoke competition. She said: “Mike was a judge and even had a sing himself – he does love a karaoke opportunity.”
This comes after videos surfaced last week showing him showcasing his singing prowess to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s track Shallow from the Hollywood blockbuster A Star Is Born, reports the Express.
He shared a video of himself sharing the microphone with Nicole Slater – the wife of former Australian rugby league footballer Billy Slater. On Instagram, Mike wrote: “What a start to @magicmillions! ! #karaoke #Twighlight racing, @pacificair polo.
“Big week ahead starting with the iconic race down the beach Tuesday morning. Can’t wait! ! !”
Despite his enthusiasm for the singing contest, Mike admitted that he leaves the eventing to Zara.
“Being smart about leaving things to the experts is where I excel,” he revealed.
The couple, who have been married for 13 years, embarked on their global journey without their three children – Mia, 10, Lena, six, and Lucas, three.
Both are brand ambassadors for the Magic Millions auction house. It’s estimated that they earn £125,000 annually from this partnership.
Their yearly trip to Australia has become a staple in their calendar. Despite their “jam-packed” itinerary during the seven-day equestrian event, Zara shared that they do manage to squeeze in some relaxation time.
They took a jaunt to Budds Beach, located in the Surfers’ Paradise, and even managed to fit in some retail therapy. Upon departing Australia, Zara will be diving straight back into work, stating: “I will be competing before long. The off season suddenly doesn’t feel too long.”
