Andy Halliday has claimed every single Rangers manager he played under complained about team leaks – as he told one former boss ‘it’s not f****** rocket science’
The former Light Blues midfielder – now plying his trade with Motherwell – played under the likes of Mark Warburton and Steven Gerrard during his time in Govan and he has revealed one incredible story about ex-boss Warburton. He delivered a real insight into his pre-match preparations with the Englishman writing his team down on a matchday on a flip-chart. After accusations of leaks he wrote a complete random XI for a trip to Easter Road to face Hibs to catch out the mole and deter any rumours.
Halliday also then revealed the blue tarp around the pitch at the training ground was down to Gerrard. Speaking on Open Goal, he said: “Every single Rangers manager I played under all said about a leak. The very first one was Mark Warburton – we never used to pick the team on a Friday – he would pick it pre-match on a matchday. He would write the team out on a flip-chart.
“He’s talking about leaks..there are 15 waiters at a hotel walking about with the team on a flip-chart. I mean it is not f****** rocket science to find out the team.
“This is God’s honest truth. One day we were playing midweek at Easter Road. We’ve turned up and been like ‘f****** hell that is a random team the amount of changes that are there’ but he said that is not the team lads. It is just in case of one of these waiters.. [Steven] Gerrard’s big one was he thought someone in the training ground was leaking the team. So see the big blue mesh around the pitch now? That was because of that.”
