WASHINGTON — Legendary actor Bruce Willis took some time during a rare public outing this week to thank first responders as wildfires continue to impact the Los Angeles area.
On Thursday, Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, shared a black-and-white video on Instagram showing the retired actor sporting a New York Yankees hat and shaking hands with a couple members of the LAPD.
“Spotting a first responder, Bruce never missed a chance to show his gratitude with a heartfelt handshake and a ‘thank you for your service.’ Yesterday was no different,” Emma Heming Willis wrote.
Tallulah Willis, the youngest daughter of Bruce Willis and ex-Demi Moore, commented under the post that “This makes my heart so freaking full.”
Bruce Willis retired from acting in 2022 after he was diagnosed with aphasia and then frontotemporal dementia. The 69-year-old has rarely been seen in public since then. Emma Heming Willis, shared an emotional video in 2023 asking paparazzi not to yell at her husband after the “Die Hard” star was filmed and photographed on a rare public outing to a coffee shop, and some tabloids published photos.
What is frontotemporal dementia?
According to the Mayo Clinic website, frontotemporal dementia “is an umbrella term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.”
While dementia mostly impacts people over the age of 65, frontotemporal dementia tends to start at a younger age with most cases diagnosed in people between 45-65 years old, according to the U.K. National Health System.
