Paul Danan has sadly passed away at the age of 46, with his manager confirming the death of the former Hollyoaks actor.
His passing follows reports from June, when it was revealed that he had to be revived after suffering respiratory failure due to an “obsessive” use of vapes.
The actor had collapsed at home and required CPR from his family after losing consciousness, and spent a week in intensive care where he contracted pneumonia.
His family were warned by doctors that he might not have “made it through the night” during this ordeal last year.
Paul had blamed his excessive smoking habit for his health battles, and speaking to The Sun on Sunday after his time in hospital, he said: “I’m upstairs puffing away on my vape then suddenly I lost my breath and collapsed. My family called for an ambulance and started giving me CPR, then police arrived and took over before paramedics took me to hospital. I was on a machine in ICU and ended up with pneumonia.”
At the time, the star was warned that if he ever smoked again in any form, he would risk becoming dependent on an oxygen tank in his later years.
Paul, who appeared in the original series of Celebrity Love Island in 2005, last year said: “After years of smoking cigarettes and all sorts, it’s the vaping which has done me in. That pushed me over the edge.”
The reality star has a history of addiction, having struggled with drugs and alcohol in the past, though it was reported he had been three years sober before his passing.
He quit smoking cigarettes in 2021, picking up vaping after he was convinced it was safer for him but later became addicted to vapes.

Paul’s manager had released a statement confirming the stars death earlier this morning.
The statement read: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of @pauldanan at just 46 years old. Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many. His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him.
During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time.”
