Pop legends Wet Wet Wet are kicking off Dumfries’ Burns Night weekend on Friday, January 24, in the town’s Loreburn Hall with tickets selling out fast.
And they have shared an online message to encourage Dumfries and Galloway fans – and those from across Scotland and beyond – to go and enjoy the concert, which is part of a feast of celebration events in the town starting on January 17 with the Dumfries Carnival and including the Burns Night Weekend and fringe events through to February 2. The festival includes music, family events, cabaret, theatre, partner events, workshops and tours.
Wet Wet Wet are one of the most successful bands in British pop history over the past four decades with 27 Top 40 hit singles include three number 1s.
They have said they are looking forward to the Dumfries gig, sharing an online message with fans: “Tickets are on sale – go out and get some. Come on down and have some nice grub – haggis – and talk some Burns as well. See you all down there.”
The band are currently enjoying success with their recently released album, The Journey, which went Top 10 in the Official UK Charts, featuring a lead vocal recording debut by Kevin Simm –winner of Voice UK and former member of Liberty X – who joined Wet Wet Wet in 2018.
Alongside Kevin, the ever-present Graeme Clark on bass and guitarist Graeme Duffin front the seven-piece band on the road and their set list is packed full of career spanning hits from Wishing I Was Lucky and Sweet Little Mystery to Angel Eyes and With A Little Help From My Friends – and, of course, Love is All Around.
The show, which starts at 8pm, is a standing event with no under 12s, but there are access tickets available for wheelchairs users and those with limited mobility.
Tickets, priced £38.50, available at: https://bigburnssupper.com/event/wet-wet-wet/.
