Coronation Street enthusiasts believe they’ve uncovered a previous link between Lauren Bolton and the new character, Brie.
As regular viewers of the ITV soap will know, Lauren is on the brink of her trial for the murder of Joel Deering. He was introduced as a charismatic solicitor who quickly won over Dee-Dee Bailey’s heart.
However, it soon emerged that Joel had a dark secret – he had a preference for younger, disadvantaged girls, including Lauren. When his true nature was revealed, he became public enemy number one, with his ex-fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey and DS Lisa Swain joining forces to take him down.
They seemed to be making progress towards justice when they both obtained evidence that Joel had purchased the drugs used to induce Lauren’s premature labour with son Frankie, intending for her to miscarry reports the Manchester Evening News.
Joel’s absence was then disclosed after he failed to appear in court. In the ITV soap scenes broadcast at the end of September, a warrant was issued for Joel’s arrest as he was apparently about to face the consequences for his heinous crimes.
It was later revealed that Joel was found dead and in November, after a series of flashbacks, it was disclosed that Lauren delivered the fatal blow. As Lauren’s trial approached, she was seen with fellow inmate, Brie, in the mother and baby unit.
During Wednesday night’s episode (January 15), the pair were seen having a disagreement. As Brie continued to provoke Lauren, the teenager eventually lost her temper and threatened her.
Coronation Street viewers were quick to spot a familiar face as actress Jessica Ellis, known for her role as Tegan in Hollyoaks, appeared on the cobbles. Fans took to Twitter to share their recognition and excitement, with one tweeting: “It’s Tegan from Hollyoaks #corrie.”

Another fan pondered: “Is it me or was the woman talking too Lauren in #Corrie / #CoronationStreet once was in #Hollyoaks by any chance? ” Someone else expressed delight: “Yayyy! Tegan Lomax. Another one off Hollyoaks #Corrie.”
Someone else exclaimed: “ITS TEGAN #Corrie.” Meanwhile, other fans speculated about her new character Brie.
One person posted: “Loved seeing @JessicaEllisUK back on my screen, making her debut as Brie. something tells me there is more to her than we see. is she dark? #corrie.”
Someone else questioned: “Why is that Brie lass being so mean to Lauren though? Is this gonna lead to something big? #Corrie.”
