Fresh paper talk from South America has linked Rangers for Talleres centre back Kevin Mantilla.
The 21-year-old was previously mentioned as a Gers target during Michael Beale‘s tenure at Ibrox in February 2023, only to swap Colombia for Argentina when he swapped Santa Fe for Talleres in the following July. The 6ft 3″ centre back has been capped on 24 occasions for his country at U23 level and Argentine outlet 351deporte claim that he is back on the Ibrox club’s radar.
The report adds that Mantilla is attracting interest from several teams outside of South America and that Tallares will be willing to listen to offers for the player at the right price. Rangers boss Philippe Clement has welcomed back skipper James Tavernier and veteran Leon Balogun but is still short on numbers in defence with John Souttar and Feyenoord loanee Neraysho Kasanwirjo out with long-term injuries.
The Light Blues had been linked with Norwich defender Grant Hanley, but the Scotland defender is poised to join EFL League One side Birmingham City on a free transfer. Watford’s Ryan Porteous has also been touted as a potential target, despite the former Hibs’ defender’s regular game time at Vicarage Road this season.
