Ayr Phoenix Folk Club has announced two concerts to be hosted later this month and in early February at the Abbotsford Hotel.
Laverock will take centre stage on Tuesday, January 28 from 7.30pm when they will delight the audience with a special feast of Burns music.
A spokesperson for Ayr Phoenix Folk Club said: “Laverock seek to uncover the real Robert Burns and the heart of his legacy: the beauty of nature, the bliss of love, the warmth of companionship.
“Born in France to a Danish mother and a Scottish father, Alex Smith brings a fresh, outside-in approach to Scots traditional music. Lanarkshire-born vocalist Joanne O’Donnell’s vocals express the simple emotions captured in the poetry.
“And from Liverpool, Andy Upton has focused his skills on acoustic guitar. His ear for intricate and delicate arrangements gives Laverock its unique melodic personality.”

And musician and singer Ernest Aines will appear at the Abbotsford Hotel for a night of music on Tuesday, February 4.
An Ayr Phoenix spokesperson said: “Ernest Aines is a Melbourne-based award-winning indie folk singer-songwriter. He is performing in January at Celtic Connections.
“Ernest is playing two UK tours in 2025, following two tours in 2024. He has played all major folk festivals in Australia in the past two years. Highlights of his 2024 tours included: performing live on BBC Liverpool and BBC Cornwall and at The Cambridge Folk Festival.
“In 2023 Ernest was selected by Sounds Australia to play at the International Folk Alliance Conference and the Library of Congress special show in Kansas City. There he impressed audiences and American Folk legend Tom Paxton was moved to personally encourage him.”
Ernest’s debut album, Spiral Bound, has garnered rave reviews and will be followed by a second in early 2025.
Again, Ernest will also be supported by the Ayr Phoenix Folk Club’s stalwart floor singers. Doors open 7pm. Pay at door £9 (cash only.)
