LIV Golf have reportedly agreed a landmark TV deal with Fox Sports for the 2025 season.
The bumper broadcasting deal could significantly boost the appeal of the league as it merges with the PGA Tour. For the past two years, LIV Golf events have aired on The CW Network, but both parties decided not to take up an additional 12 months for 2025. Now, the Saudi-funded series has struck an agreement with Fox that will see their 54-hole events screened with one of the USA’s biggest TV stations.
An announcement has yet to be formally made, but the ever-reliable Flushing It Golf account revealed on X: “LIV Golf has officially signed a broadcast deal in the US with FOX Sports to show all of their events across the Fox channels. This will be formally announced by the league later today.”
It marks a significant change for the LIV setup, given that the appeal of their events to some of the major broadcasters has been under scrutiny. The viewing figures on CW didn’t reach the levels that LIV chiefs had anticipated after signing the deal for 2023. This was particularly evident following the final regular season event in September.
A mere average of 89,000 golf fans tuned in to watch Jon Rahm secure the breakaway league’s 2024 individual champion title in Chicago on The CW during the final round. This figure had reportedly dropped from 134,000 in the second round. In comparison, their PGA Tour rivals averaged 2.2 million viewers on Sundays throughout the season.
