A man has been charged after the death of a “one in a million” dad after he was hit by a car in Cumbernauld last year.
William Henderson, 49, tragically died in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after being struck at around 8.10am on Sunday, May, 26, 2024.
It is claimed Mr Henderson was hit while walking on Greenfaulds Road at the junction with Locksley Road.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance but sadly died.
Police Scotland has confirmed a 39-year-old has been charged in connection with road traffic offences and reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
A police spokesperson said: “A 39-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into a fatal road crash on Sunday, 26 May, 2024.
“The incident happened around 8.10am on Greenfaulds Road, Cumbernauld. Emergency services attended and a 49-year-old man, William Henderson, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he later died.
“The 39-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences. He has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Mr Henderson’s loved ones previously paid tribute to him and described him as “one of life’s good guys”.
Gordon Lyon said: “We lost one of life’s good guys. There are no words that can describe the pain we are all feeling.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all the Henderson and Mann family at this devastating time. Rest easy my friend.”
Alan Mann added: “Words can’t describe how we all feel losing William. You were one in a million. Rest easy till we meet again.”
