Hibernian have reportedly tabled a bid worth around £720,000 for Finnish teenage star Matias Siltanen.
The midfielder doesn’t turn 18 until March 29 but has already established himself at first team level for KuPS and featured in all four of the Finnish club’s games in qualifying for the Europa Conference League at the start of the season. Initially it was reported that a bid had been launched by English Premier League side Bournemouth – who are in a strategic partnership with Hibs after Cherries owner Bill Foley purchased a stake in the Easter Road club last year – but Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt insist that the offer has indeed came from Hibs.
The report also claims that David Gray‘s team will face competition from Swedish outfit Djurgarden, who are said to be leading the race to land Siltanen because of the impreesion made on the player by the club’s sporting director Bosse Andersson. It goes onto say that both clubs have lodged bids worth 10 million kroner, which is equivalent to around £720,000.
Siltanen has won four caps for Finland at U19 level and is under contract at KuPS until December 2025. Hibees boss Gray is yet to bring in any new faces in the window so far but has released midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes and allowed Nohan Kenneh to rejoin Ross County on loan.
The Hibees have also been touted to make a move for Dutchman Lars Kramer after the Aalborg centre back took in a game at Easter Road. The 25-year-old shared an image on social media of himself in attendance for the thrilling 3-3 draw with Rangers on January 5, and also tagged his agent along with a handshake emoji. Kramer joined top tier Danish side Aalborg from Viborg in 2022 but is into the final six months of his contract and is now free to speak to other clubs.
