The tragic news of former Hollyoaks star Paul Danan’s death at the age of 46 was announced earlier today. Last year, during an appearance on The Dozen with Liam Tuffs podcast, he recounted a peculiar conversation with George Michael at a star-studded party in 1998.

Paul reminisced about his younger days, particularly the prestigious MTV Awards held in Milan in 1998. He travelled to Donatella Versace’s opulent residence with his friend and MTV award-winning act, the Prodigy, who had bagged four awards that night.

During the event, he had a chance encounter with George Michael. Meeting the Wham! star for the first time, Paul fondly recalled what the singer told him: “Me and Kenny (Kenny Goss, George’s ex-boyfriend) we love you, we watch you every Sunday.

“I just wanted to say that we love your character (on Hollyoaks).” Responding with a simple ‘thanks so much’, Paul expressed his disbelief at some of the celebrities present, including Lenny Kravitz and the Spice Girls.

Over the years, Paul appeared in numerous TV shows, but he is perhaps best remembered for his role as Sol Patrick in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks from 1997 to 2001. In addition to his acting roles, Paul also featured prominently in reality TV shows in the early 2000s, including Celebrity Big Brother and ITV’s Celebrity Love Island in 2005. As tributes poured in on social media, Katie Price was left stunned, posting: “Wow just speechless and shocked, many memories I’ll always remember. RIP.”

Meanwhile, former Big Brother contestant Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace expressed her sorrow: “Paul Danan… a friend of mine… I’m so shocked and heartbroken…my darling man… I will cherish all our happy memories. RIP u beautiful amazing talented human,” reports the Mirror.
