The leisure pool, Monkey Jungle and flumes at Perth Leisure Pool will reopen to the public this weekend following an issue with its boiler.

On Tuesday, January 14 the building partly reopened when a temporary solution was found to reopen the training and teaching pools for lessons, club and lane swimming, as well as the gym and health suite.

The leisure pool, Monkey Jungle and flumes had remained closed and – while the boiler issue is still not completely resolved – they will reopen on Saturday, January 18.

Up until Tuesday, all the pools had been closed since Christmas and the health suite and gym since the New Year, due to the water and building temperature being too cold.

Engineers have been working hard to find a solution and today Live Active Leisure was delighted to announce it could return to offering its full programme of activities.

A spokesperson for the organisation – which runs the facility on behalf of Perth and Kinross Council – said: “Live Active Leisure are pleased to announce that the leisure water, Monkey Jungle and flumes at Perth Leisure Pool will reopen on Saturday 18th January. Following the reopening of the training and teaching pools earlier this week, this means that we are now able to offer the full programme of activities as advertised on our timetables.

“Whilst we are looking forward to being able to reopen these areas, customers should be aware that the boiler issue is still not fully resolved and there may be some fluctuations in air and water temperatures and unfortunately further periods of closure cannot be ruled out until the issue is fully rectified.”

Perth Leisure Pool’s Operations manager Debbie Scott said: “We understand how much everyone enjoys the water features within the leisure pool, so we’re thrilled to be opening these facilities this weekend. Our maintenance team and contractors are continuing to work on a permanent solution and further updates will be provided in due course. For now, though, we’re looking forward to welcoming you all back and we continue to be grateful for the patience and understanding of customers throughout this frustrating time.”
