A Scots pensioner has died after being found seriously injured at a home in Hamilton.

Cops were called to a property in Gilmour Drive just before 8.30pm on Wednesday night, where they discovered the 78-year-old woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an assault. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Forensic officers were seen outside the property on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.25pm on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025, we were called to a report of a woman seriously injured within a house in Gilmour Drive, Hamilton.

“Emergency services attended and a 78-year-old woman was pronounced dead. The death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem examination will be carried out.

“Officers remain at the scene and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers. A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with assault. Enquiries are ongoing.”
