Milo is sweet, affectionate and loves sweets, baking, fashion, SpongeBob and learning about technology. He said he misses having a family.

AUSTIN, Texas — Every week on KVUE, we feature a different child in the Texas foster care system, in hopes of helping them get adopted by a forever family.

Milo is a sweet and affectionate 15-year-old who is like walking sunshine. KVUE’s Hannah Rucker first featured him a couple years back and was recently able to check back in with him. He said he is still so eager to find a forever family.

Rucker met up with Milo at Amy’s Ice Cream on U.S. 290 in West Austin. The two were able to scoop their own ice cream and mix in different toppings together. Milo has a huge sweet tooth and also likes to bake. He chose two different flavors, Mint Chocolate Chip and Cheesecake. He made his own creation and giggled, calling it “God’s Mountain.”

While eating ice cream, Milo said he gets really lonely in foster care, he misses having a family and he misses his sister, who lives somewhere else. He said he hopes God can help him get adopted.

“I’m counting on God to help me because I’m going through going through a hard time. I have dreams of having a phone so I could text my sister, see if she’s OK, and video call with her,” Milo said. “I wish I could get adopted.”

Milo is very tech savvy, and he loves the Homes & Gardens magazine and fashion. Things that catch his eye will be touched and examined, and he will likely hold hands with people he’s interacting with.

To learn more about Milo or to put in an inquiry to adopt him, visit his page on the Heart Gallery of Central Texas. And catch his full story on KVUE Midday on Friday.

KVUE launched the Forever Families segment with Partnerships for Children (PFC) in June 2020 to highlight children in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas who need secure and permanent families. Every day, there are nearly 1,000 children waiting to get adopted in Central Texas, according to PFC.

Editor’s noteThe children who are in the Heart Gallery program and featured in KVUE’s Forever Families segments are children who have had every effort made on their behalf to connect them with family or others in their community to provide options for permanent, adoptive homes. Through no fault of their own, that hasn’t happened yet, and so in partnership with the Department of Family and Protective Services, we collaborate to bring awareness to KVUE viewers about these children in the hopes of finding them permanency before they age out.
