Three men have been charged in connection with vehicle thefts across Scotland.

Two trailers and an HGV tractor were nicked from sites in Dumfries and Galloway and Lanarkshire during the course of 2024.

Three men from the Leeds have now been arrested and charged in connection with the thefts.

The trio – aged 25, 40 and 48 – will appear in court at a later date and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Detective Inspector Scott Wilson said: “This investigation highlights our commitment to tackling crime across the region and shows that anyone thinking of travelling to Scotland to commit crime will be actively pursued.”

The HGV tractor was stolen from Cumbernauld on April 15. A trailer was stolen from Lockerbie between July 6 and 7, with another trailer taken from the town on July 24.
