A dazzling West Lothian lady shone this party season after achieving an amazing 5st 9lb weight loss.
Adele McDaid was voted as the East Calder’s Slimming World group’s Icon of the Year after her fellow members were blown away by her transformation.
She said: “When I first joined the group in April 2024, I never dreamt that I would be in the position I am now. Losing weight has made such a big difference to my life.
“My health has improved, I no longer take medication, I’m happier and I have so much more energy to run around after my grandson.”
Adele, 51, joined Slimming World after feeling unhappy about her size.
“I started to put on weight, was at my lowest and didn’t want to go out to family gatherings,” said Adele.
“I had tried a number of different ways to lose weight, but they usually left me feeling hungry or miserable – or both, in fact. With Slimming World it’s completely different.
“My family and friends are all amazed by how much I can eat and lose weight. I still eat all my favourite meals, like cheeseburger pasta and roast dinners.
“I just prepare and cook them differently now – and they taste so much better. I never have to miss out and I don’t have to get hung up on weighing and measuring everything I eat.
“I love the flexibility and my family love trying new recipes. I’ve picked up so many tips and healthy recipes from the other members at my Slimming World group, too.”
Adele began following Slimming World’s Food Optimising healthy eating plan, which encourages members to satisfy their appetite on healthy foods like pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, fish, fruit and veg and more.
Slimmers are able to lose weight without ever going hungry and still enjoy treats without feeling deprived.
Adele added: “I have the confidence to wear outfits that I could only dream of last year.
“I am so much fitter and healthier than before and have a new lease of life. I love being able to run around after my grandson and can clock up an average of 20k steps a day.”
Sue Scorer, who runs the East Calder Slimming World group which Adele attends, says she’s extremely proud of her.
She said: “I know Adele will feel completely different to previous years.
“Her confidence is beaming and she has bags of energy to run around after her grandson.”
