The teenager was using the Brooms Road pedestrian crossing in Dumfries on Friday afternoon when he was struck.
The 15-year-old, who had been making his way home at the time, suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision, which happened around 3.20pm near Glebe Street.
Police appealed on social media for information about the incident and confirmed a 62-year-old woman has been charged.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 62-year-old woman has been charged with careless driving and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
