AUSTIN, Texas — The city of Austin is activating its cold weather shelters as an Arctic cold front gets set to bring the coldest weather of the season to Central Texas.
The shelters will open starting Saturday night and will remain open until at least Wednesday. People can register to stay at the shelter by going to the One Texas Center on Barton Springs Road between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each day.
From there, those who register will be taken to a warm place to stay for the night.
Officials with the city said that they’re sending information to more than 5,000 people who have signed up for text alerts for shelter activations.
