Scots Traitors star Alex Oleksy has insisted he will be returning to his care home job after his brutal exit from the BBC hit show.

The 30-year-old, from North Berwick, was the only Scottish contestant in the third season of the show. Tipped as a favourite to win, he made it all the way to the eighth episode before he was banished when his fellow co-stars suspected him to be a Traitor.

The care home manager had applied for the show in hopes of taking home the £120,000 cash prize. He hoped to use the money to embark on an IVF journey with his wife after revealing the couple could not have biological children.

Following his exit he told the Record: “We still hope to start a family.

“I’m desperate to be a dad, I’m just a big kid and just always wanted to be a dad.

“After my elimination life has gone back to normal. I’m back to working in the care sector.”

The Scot grew up in his East Lothian hometown and found love with his then-girlfriend before moving to Whitby four years ago to start a new life together. He regularly makes trips ‘back up the road’ to see his mum.

The Traitors returned for its third season on New Year’s Day, with 25 contestants hoping to bag their share of the £120K prize pot.

But it was his mother in law who encouraged him to apply for the hit BBC show.

He said: “The first time I watched the show, I thought the whole concept was so cool. Psychological warfare AND a game show.

“I watched it with my mother-in-law, and she said ‘I think you’d be really good at this’. I mulled it over and I thought, “you know what, I think I’m going to do that.”

Alex had entered Ardross Castle, in the Highlands, hoping to be chosen as a Traitor. But his strategic game eventually sealed his fate after an attempt to examine voting patterns led to a vote axing him from the show.

“I knew as soon as I explained my logic about voting Traitors out that fingers would point to me”, he said. “I was so nervous and desperate to stay in the game that I went into survival mode.

“I thought so much about not tripping myself up that I tripped up.”

Touching on when he revealed himself to be a Faithful to the other contestants he added: “The feeling of vindication was amazing.”

He also insisted the drama and emotions on camera are real behind the scenes.

“The game became more emotional. It almost stopped being about a prize pot and became so like real life.

“But I’m pleased that I made myself proud and played with integrity to the end.”

The Traitors airs on the BBC every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening at 7pm.
