A full-scale fight broke out in a Dumfries street after a man complained to a takeaway delivery driver that his kebab was cold.

When customer Jason Goldie, 50, threw some of his order into Dante’s driver Sadiq Yildirim’s car, Yildirim, 57, went berserk and grabbed a metal bar from the motor which he used to strike Mr Goldie on the body with.

Yildrim’s sons Cerkez, 26, and Erkan, 31, of Birchwood Way, arrived at the scene in Heston Avenue around 10 minutes later at 8.20pm on July 12 last year.

The drama that followed was captured on video by stunned neighbours which then went viral on social media.

It showed Sadiq Yildirim, also of Birchwood Way, brandishing the bar, banging on the windows of the house, telling Mr Goldie to come out and fight, and verbally abusing Mr Goldie’s wife, who phoned police.

One member of the public was heard saying: “All this over a cold kebab.”

Sadiq waved the metal bar around as a nearby dog started barking at him.

Another onlooker is heard in the footage saying: “Don’t you dare hit that dog.”

When they appeared at court on Monday, Erkan Yildirim pleaded guilty to repeatedly striking windows of the Goldies’ home, uttering derogatory remarks and threatening to run at other members of the public while brandishing tow bars.

He also pleaded guilty to resisting arrest by tensing his wrists to prevent officers placing on handcuffs.

Cerkez, 26, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by acting aggressively in the manner of brandishing a metal bar, shouting and approaching other members of the public with the weapon.

Sadiq pleaded guilty to a charge of assault after he struck Mr Goldie with a metal tow bar and an amended charge of threatening and abusive behaviour.

Sentencing was deferred to February 5 to allow for social work reports and assessment for a restriction of liberty orders.
