Sir Kenny Dalglish has paid tribute to Scottish football icon Denis Law after he has sadly passed away aged 84 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
Law was recognised as a Manchester United legend for his 11 years of service from 1962 to 1973 but also played 55 times for Scotland and remains our joint all-time top scorer with his 30 international goals matched only by Dalglish. He captured the hearts of the Tartan Army with his incredible performances in Dark Blue – and that of Liverpool hero Dalglish as he shared a clip of a tribute to Law following his passing.
With the duo being compared throughout their career, Daglish shared the Sky Sports interview where he stated: “People can say who was better or best, it doesn’t matter to me. He was my favourite.” Dalglish then followed it up with a post on X where he branded the Lawman his “hero.”
He said: “Thoughts are with Denis Law’s family. Thanks for the great memories. My hero.”
Manchester United are planning a tribute to Law ahead of the 2pm Premier League match against Brighton, where United players will wear black armbands in tribute, a gesture echoed by the club’s youngsters who donned them during their Youth Cup fixture on Friday night.
