A man has been arrested after two women were allegedly assaulted at a Scots flat.
Cops were called to Mill Road in Cambuslang at around 4.05pm on Thursday after reports of an assault. Two women, aged 41 and 16, were rushed to hospital.
A man within the property reportedly then barricaded himself in, before setting fire to the flat. Dramatic footage show a man climbing over railings of a balcony at the home, before leaping from the property. Smoke can be seen billowing from the property while bystanders screamed in shock.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Several properties were evacuated as a precaution at the time and inquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.05pm on Thursday, 16 January, 2025, police received a report of two women being assaulted in Mill Road, Cambuslang.
“Emergency services attended and two women, aged 41 and 16, were taken to hospital. A man barricaded himself within a flat and a fire was set before he left the flat via the balcony.
“A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Several properties were evacuated as a precaution. Inquiries are ongoing.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We can confirm we attended a fire at a premises in the Kirkhill/Halfway area of Cambuslang tonight but all enquiries on this incident are now being being directed to Police Scotland.”
