MERCER COUNTY, W.Va. – The day where the country turns to a groundhog to forecast the future will be here before we know it.
In Athens, West Virginia the community turns to the esteemed Concord Charlie at Concord University.
The Concord Charlie tradition was established in 1978.
It has now been revealed who will be this year’s Grand Groundhog Watcher will be at the the Groundhog Day Breakfast on January 31st at 8 a.m.
Congrats are in order for Jamie Null who you’ve seen in our “What’s Happening Wednesday” segments on WVVA @ Noon.
Null is a 2006 graduate of the “Campus Beautiful.”
Following her time at CU she would go on to work for media organizations like the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
Currently, she is the executive director at the Mercer County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Under her leadership in the last decade, the CVB has collected multiple state tourism awards and expanded operations with its mobile visitor center.
Congratulations again, Jamie!
