Molly-Mae Hague has disclosed that she and her ex-fiancé Tommy Fury had a “big argument” just before he proposed.
The pair, who first crossed paths on the ITV’s smash hit Love Island in 2019, became proud parents to little Bambi in January 2023 and got engaged later in July the same year.
Although the proposal sent waves across Instagram with an eye-watering 45 million views, the social media sensation has admitted feeling ‘sad’ just before occasion.
In the revealing new documentary Molly-Mae: Behind It All, she examines the footage from that eventful day and candidly shares with her production crew: “Do you guys know the story about the fact that we had a big argument before this?'”
Delving further into details, she explains how Tommy’s behaviour sparked the dispute, saying: “He’d been acting shady, obviously, and we had taken some photos on Tommy’s phone, of him and I at the hotel. And I was like ‘Can I have a look at the photos on your phone? ‘ and he wouldn’t let me go on his phone. Obviously, [I start] thinking: ‘Why won’t you let me on your phone?'”
After their tiff, the new mum divulged her anxiety over potentially finding ‘pictures of another woman’ on Tommy’s phone, revealing: “Up until literally the point of pulling up in the car, I fully thought I was going to a dinner.”
“I was that oblivious and I was literally looking out of the [car] window like I was in a sad music video, thinking that he literally had some pictures of another woman on his phone or something. That was what was going through my mind, on my way to my engagement. It’s pretty funny really.”
Reflecting on their special day, the ex-Love Island star said: “I don’t know just, it was really perfect.” She also admitted that during that time “things were getting a bit tricky” between them.
A year on, the couple surprised their followers with the announcement of their split. Initially tight-lipped about the reasons, Tommy opened up to Men’s Health recently, revealing his struggle with alcohol and how he “couldn’t be the partner that [he] wanted to be anymore.”
Molly-Mae echoed this sentiment regarding Tommy’s drinking in her documentary series.
The six-part series, which premiered on January 17, offers an insight into her life as both a businesswoman and mother to her 23-month-old child, Bambi.
Molly-Mae: Behind It All eps 1-3 launched exclusively on Prime Video on 17th January. The latter three episodes will drop in Spring 2025.
