A Lanarkshire hairdresser clinched a prestigious award at a major industry awards ceremony.
Suzie McGill, international artistic director with Rainbow Room International, earned the top accolade of hairdresser of the year at the Fellowship for British Hairdressing Awards.
The Uddingston salon owner said she was “over the moon” with the award at last month’s ceremony, which capped a string of professional successes and awards during the year.
Suzie was crowned with the top award at the industry event in London; while Rainbow Room colleague and academy director Laura Leigh Kerr was named educator of the year and winner of the community hero award.
It completed a successful 12 months for Suzie, in which she also won the best global stylist prize at the Salon business awards and was named “creative colour genius” at the the Colour World Genius awards.
She has more than two decades of experience and has been inducted into the British hairdressing awards hall of fame after winning the Scottish hairdresser of the year title three times.
Rainbow Room International describe Suzie as one of their “most accomplished and influential stylists”, saying: “She is a favourite at London fashion week, and is UK ambassador for Schwarzkopf essential looks; not forgetting her 20 years’ experience as an educator, travelling all over the world to pass on her knowledge and expertise.”
Nearly 500 industry guests attended the glittering Fellowship for British Hairdressing awards ceremony in London last month to “celebrate the incredible achievements of the industry’s finest”.
