CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cam Newton opened up about his financial struggles following his NFL career with the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots.
On this week’s episode of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” the former Panthers quarterback shared it’s hard to feel like a “Superman” to his eight children after losing his NFL salary.
“Being in the NFL, everyone knows there’s a large sum of money that comes to you in a short span of time and being away from the game for three years, those checks don’t come in the same. Like I got eight kids,” Newton said on the show.
Newton shares four children with ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor; sons Chosen Sebastian, Camidas Swain and Cashmere Swaint and daughter Sovereign-Dior Cambella, and he helped raise Proctor’s oldest daughter, Shakira, according to People. Newton also shares two kids with LaReina Shaw — son Caesar and Shaw’s older son from another relationship, Jaden.
In March 2024, Newton and Jasmin Brown welcomed his daughter, according to People. Her name has not been revealed.
“It hurts me knowing that I can’t provide like I once did,” Newton said. “It hurts thinking that I’m Superman, but in reality, I’m just a man.”
