‘One of the best movies of all time’ that some fans believe ‘proved Tom Cruise’s talent’ is on TV this weekend.
First released in 1992 and since considered a cinematic classic by many, A Few Good Men will be broadcast for TV. Film fans can tune into the movie on Film4, starting at 9pm on Saturday, January 18.
However, if you miss the start time or just can’t wait until then, the good news is that it is also available to stream on Amazon Prime, provided you have a subscription to the service.
A Few Good Men is a legal drama and a big screen adaptation based on the play of the same name which was also written by Aaron Sorkin. The writer would go on to create hit television series The West Wing and win an Oscar for his screenplay for The Social Network. It was directed by Rob Reiner, who also helmed a number of beloved films including Misery, When Harry Met Sally, This Is Spinal Tap.
The film also boasts an impressive cast list with Demi Moore, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise all featuring.
Cruise takes on the role of Lt. Daniel Kaffee, a US military lawyer tasked with defending two US marines charged with murdering a fellow soldier at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba. The case does not seem so straightforward however, with suspicion raised at a certain colonel (Nicholson).
Earning more than $200m at the box office, the film would also earn four Oscar nominations. It is still highly regarded all these years later and cited as a much watch film with many claiming it is ‘one of the best movies of all time’.
