A young man who died following a disturbance in Paisley has been named locally as Robert McNally.

Emergency services were called to Maree Road and Lochbroom Road in the Foxbar area of the town at around 4.15pm on Saturday.

The 21-year-old was found with serious injuries and died at the scene. His death is being treated as unexplained and police have erected a cordon around the residential street.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with assault.

Neighbours and the wider community have been left shocked by the tragedy.

Lewis Cameron said: “Poor lad still had his whole life ahead of him. My thoughts are with his family.”

Mandie Rannachan said: “A terrible tragedy. So young. Thoughts are with the family.

Ronnie Gordon added: “Such a shame to hear another young life has been taken. It’s a heartbreaking effect on the family and friends for years to come.”

Police officers remain stationed at a cordon on the residential street while the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Emergency services were called to Maree Road and Lochbroom Road in Paisley following a report of a disturbance around 4.15pm on Saturday, January 18.

“A 21-year-old man was found seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The death is currently being treated as unexplained and his next of kin are aware.”
