Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes fears keeper Robby McCrorie suffered a fractured cheekbone in their Scottish Cup 2-1 loss to Celtic.
The stopper was forced off inside the opening minute as he raced from goal and collided with Nicolas Kuhn.
And their injury list wasn’t helped when skipper Brad Lyons made way with a hamstring injury before half-time.
Despite that, Killie gave a decent account of themselves and almost opened the scoring after just eight minutes when Fraser Murray clattered the crossbar with a free-kick.
However, the hosts were soon in front. Callum McGregor was afforded far too much time and space as he fired home from distance on 12 minutes.
Celtic squandered plenty of chances to double their advantage with Kyogo, Hatate and Kuhn all missing before the game swung dramatically in first half injury-time.
A Murray cross struck Robbie Deas in the arm before falling to Bobby Wales to prod home an equaliser that was given following a VAR check.
To their credit, Killie didn’t merely sit back but they were vulnerable every time Celtic attacked in the second half.
And the hosts got themselves back in front on 70 minutes when Daizen Maeda was on hand to turn home from six yards after Kuhn’s darting run.
They weren’t able to kill the game off as Kuhn hit the woodwork before O’Hara made a smart save to deny Hatate.
That almost came back to bite Celtic when Kasper Schmeichel was forced to make a save from Deas but they held on as Killie failed to find a second that would have taken the game into extra-time.
Afterwards, McInnes said: “Our biggest fear is that Robby’s fractured his cheekbone. The doctor seems to think it’s his cheekbone. We’re preparing ourselves for the worst news with him.
“Then Brad (Lyons) going off with a hamstring. We came here depleted as well, the cards were stacked against us with the draw.
“They were at full strength really – that’s maybe Celtic’s strongest team, we had to contend with that.
“We came here with a few injuries. We’re hopeful we’ll have Kyle Magennis back next week for the Hearts game and maybe Matty Kennedy.”
He added: “We’re disappointed with the goal. For them to come right through the middle and not get pressure on McGregor isn’t good enough.
“I was pleased we got the equaliser and for the first 15 minutes of the second half, I thought we gained far more territory but our decision making let us down.
“Celtic have taken one of their chances to finish off but it should be a foul for us in the build-up and 20 seconds later it’s in the back of our net.
“It’s hard to say on chances created that Celtic didn’t deserve to win it, but there’s acceptable ways of losing a cup tie and I thought we did that.”
