A man has died following a major incident in Paisley yesterday afternoon, police have confirmed.
The 21-year-old was found seriously injured in the Foxbar area of the town but died at the scene, despite the efforts of the emergency services.
His death is currently being treated as unexplained.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Emergency services were called to Maree Road and Lochbroom Road in Paisley following a report of a disturbance around 4.15pm on Saturday, January 18.
“A 21-year-old man was found seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The death is currently being treated as unexplained and his next of kin are aware.
“A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with assault and enquiries are ongoing.”
Detective Inspector Euan McMillan added: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident, however there is no threat to the wider public.
“Officers will remain in the area as enquiries are carried out and anyone with any concerns, can approach them.”
A heavy police presence remains in the area this morning.
