Lewis Fiorini and Ruari Paton are set for moves to Dundee United as Jim Goodwin closes in on a double signing.

The Tannadice club are in the process of agreeing loan deals with Port Vale and Stockport County, respectively. Manager Goodwin is hoping to tie both deals up before tomorrow night’s Scottish Cup clash with Dundee. Former Scotland under-21 cap Fiorini came through the ranks at Manchester City and has had loan spells at NAC Breda, Blackpool, Charlton and Lincoln. Fiorini, 22, moved to big spending Stockport last year but has always been keen to try his luck in the Scottish Premiership.

Striker Paton is also coming in from Port Vale. They signed him from Queen’s Park last year but he has struggled for goals. Goodwin hopes moving to Tannadice can see him reproduce his goalscring form. Paton will offer pace and something different to Sam Dalby, Jort van der Sande and Louis Moult.

United are currently in third placing and hoping for a European push.
